Air Force Reserve Technician Officer Position
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position, to serve as an understudy to the Mission Support Group Commander and as such, reviews policy and assists the Senior ART/Mission Support Group (MSG) Commander in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling all activities and operations of the Mission Support Group. Subject position is part of the AFRC developmental Mission Support Group training program.
As such, this position provides the incumbent with valuable AFRC experience that will serve as a recruitment source from which Mission Support Group Commanders can be selected. Incumbent receives experience, training, and instruction in providing overall staff direction to all Mission Support Group programs.
Duties
- Serves as an understudy/advisor to the MSG Commander and staff, providing planning and oversight of base support activities in the Mission Support Group.
- Represents the Mission Support Group Commander at a variety of installation and functional area organizational meetings.
- Assesses the effectiveness of program execution. Reviews management indicators and reports to identify any deficiencies or shortfalls and makes recommendations to the MSG Commander on possible solutions and courses of action.
- Accomplishes special staff studies, projects and initiatives resulting from legislative and regulatory changes, reengineering efforts, new technology, privatization, program/mission changes, etc.

Qualifications
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. For additional information regarding ART positions and/or military qualifications, please call Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the AF Reserve.
Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position) on the application. A military service member's statement of service/certification will be accepted IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided. The statement/certification should indicate member's separation from active duty is within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. It must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable).
Your preference and/or appointment eligibility will be verified prior to appointment. Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave. Individuals selected for ART positions must meet both civilian qualifications and uniformed military requirements.
