The Aquatic Maintenance Technician is responsible for the modification, repair, and refurbishment of rides and equipment located within waterpark or aquatics facilities. This position completes preventative maintenance, tests rides, adjusts controls, diagnoses issues, ensures water quality, and repairs system malfunctions as they occur.
Sandcastle - Aquatics Maintenance Technician (Full‑Time)Roles & Responsibilities
This position plays an integral role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of water park rides and attractions, which in turn strengthens guest satisfaction.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct daily pre‑opening inspections of waterslides and pools to ensure there are no safety or performance issues.
- Ensure that all pools are chemically balanced for operation according to codes and standards set by state and local Health Department and park management.
- Respond to trouble calls, diagnose, and correct mechanical issues.
- Maintain the property in a clean, presentable, and safe manner.
- Perform repairs and service as directed by the manufacturers’ requirements and specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance such as painting, battery replacement, smoke detector checks, HVAC cleaning, door/lock repair, plumbing, cleaning, painting, drywall repair, basic carpentry, electrical repairs, and various other issues that arise.
- Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Utilize the proper PPE, depending on the nature of the job.
- Maintain all storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner.
- Complete repair work orders in a timely manner.
- Keep maintenance and park leadership fully informed of current issues.
- Perform all other duties assigned by leadership.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- 2+ years of previous work experience in maintenance or mechanics highly desired.
- 1–2 years of previous work experience at a waterpark, swimming pool, or other aquatics‑related facility preferred.
- Working knowledge of water chemistry, pumps, and motors highly desired.
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English;
Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with PA Child Labor Laws.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be open to overnight shifts.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to utilize a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Must possess a general practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and carpentry; knowledge of pumps and motors a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend ride maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity and experience with fiberglass and other water slide structures a plus.
- Familiarity with state and local codes as they relate to aquatics attractions.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods of time.
- Ability to remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 75 pounds or more.
- Ability to work in all non‑conventional areas of the property, including confined spaces or above ground‑level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts.
- Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, and move objects or tools.
- Ability to see differences between colors and brightness.
- Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
- Frequent exposure to water and pool cleaning chemicals.
- Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions.
- Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, and exposure to various chemicals and greases.
- Subject to blood borne pathogens; proper PPE is required in these situations.
