Part-Time Paraprofessional II, YS​/YA

Due to increased needs in the YA/YS Departments, the Homewood Public Library is seeking to hire an exceptional individual to join our growing and engaging YS/YA team.

The Paraprofessional II works under the supervision of the Head and Assistant Head of the Youth/Young Adult Services Department and provides support for departmental offerings. This position is responsible for assisting patrons, with a focus on providing quality customer service and patron assistance. This position helps with material processing and programming. The Paraprofessional II also assists with collection management, including weeding, deselection and display creation as needed, and will need to work well collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree, Library Technical Assistant Degree, or comparable combination of education and experience working with youth, and/or programming, preferably in a library setting. Additionally, the successful candidate will need to have the ability to learn and develop additional related skills as needed.

The ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse populations, community groups, staff and patrons alike is imperative.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student to get great experience and join a positive, patron oriented, growing team. This position is for daytime hours, including two mornings a week, and part of the weekend rotation (one weekend/month) Some evening hours, as needed. There is some schedule flexibility.
