The Corporate Banking Associate role will expose the employee to all facets of corporate lending. This position is responsible for providing client coverage activities for corporate clients in designated geography, with a focus on Corporate Banking. The Corporate Banking Associate works closely with senior Corporate Banking professionals and performs assigned duties, including but not limited to, due diligence, document processing, financial modeling, statistical analysis, research, and presentation development while following all risk related practices and policies.

Responsibilities- Under limited supervision, performs tasks assigned and managed by senior staff, including drafting internal and external documents and marketing materials, support of executing transactions, as well as working with clients, attorneys, investors, interested parties and/or other senior professionals on a day-to-day basis
- May coach and mentor future analysts or interns
- Builds cross-functional relationships within CIB
- Follows all risk related practices and policies
- Develops client relationship skills and industry/product/market knowledge
- Works with lending team in the closing and documentation of new and existing credit facilities and attend loan closings
- Participates on calls with new and existing bank clients
- Manages and assist in the preparation of loan submission packages for new loans and renewals of existing loans including financial spreads, cash flow statements, commercial real estate models and ROE models
- Directs financial statements to corporate credit analysts for spreads and analysis
- Researches and draft company reports for new and existing clients, including company histories, financial analysis, collateral analysis, global cash flow analysis, and strengths and weaknesses of any loan requests
- Researches and draft industry reports for existing and potential customers from available public information, trade publications, and additional resources
- Compiles targeted potential business client lists for relationship managers to utilize in business development
- Assists with exceptions, credit file maintenance, credit monitoring requirements, preparation for portfolio reviews and required covenant maintenance
- Obtains and retain product knowledge
- Provides back-up support for managing the internal audit, external audit and examination process with respect to lending
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Plays an integral role in supporting the senior leaders in new business development, due diligence and/or transaction execution
- A high school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of related work experience; a Bachelor's degree in finance is preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability and motivation to make sales calls
- Knowledge of Federal laws and regulations involving loans
- Ability to analyze a credit application for completeness and for documents needed on all types of loans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage duties in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
- Ability to lead others
- Customer service experience; 1 year of directly related experience is preferred
