Assets Protection Specialist

Starting pay range per hour is $21.00–$23.00, with a full range of $21.00–$35.70. Pay is based on labor markets and may consider education, work experience, and certifications. The Assets Protection (AP) teams keep guests, team members, and the brand secure, lead through crisis events, mitigate shortage risks, prevent theft and fraud, and ensure product availability. They build relationships inside and outside the store, including with store leaders and public safety officials.

• Use surveillance and intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and support shortage reduction.
• Monitor guests with Target’s video surveillance system to identify potential theft risks.
• Implement AP practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage.
• Document cases properly and effectively.
• Identify strategic resolutions for external theft and fraud and facilitate apprehension.

• Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments such as greeting with a smile and eye contact, helping guests find items or resolve issues, and thanking guests sincerely.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
• Support store sales by preventing and resolving theft, ensuring product is in stock.
• Resolve theft with good judgment and conduct apprehensions in shortage focus areas, strictly following AP policies and procedures.
• Identify theft trends using technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
• Prevent theft through intelligence gathering and communication of key issues.
• Use video systems to monitor theft activity.
• Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation per AP policy and procedures.
• Promote a physical security and safety culture, creating awareness and training safe and secure standards throughout the building.
• Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences.
• Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, best practices, and training, and report hazards when possible.
• Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
• Participate in legal proceedings when necessary to represent Target’s interests.
• Perform all other duties required by business needs.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure or other legal requirements.
• Maintain a welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment while accomplishing multiple tasks within established time frames.

• Climb up and down ladders.
• Apprehend subjects according to company policy.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays), be present at scheduled shifts, and observe required meal and rest breaks.
• Perform job duties in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (including Drive‑Up and carry‑out).
• Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
