Technology Support Level 1 - District Wide Primary Purpose

Perform on-site technical work, installing and maintaining computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.

• Associate degree in information technology or electronics or 48 college hours in the field (preferred).
• A+, Google, and/or Windows certifications (preferred).

• Knowledge of Windows workstations and Chromebook/Chromebox devices.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
• Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals.
• Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware.
• Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under stressful situations.
• Ability to pass a national criminal history check.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner.

• One year of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals.

• Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
• Assist with installation of network cabling and network peripherals.
• Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed with proper asset inventory documentation.
• Install and configure software as needed.
• Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.
• Assist in managing network resources/administrative systems as assigned.

• Diagnose and repair equipment, including projectors, desktops, laptops, and display boards.
• Service equipment according to an established preventive maintenance schedule.
• Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

• Aid end users to identify and correct equipment and software related problems.

• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, and carrying.
• Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

• Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals.
• Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping, squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders.
• Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying up to 44 pounds; occasional heavy lifting over 45 pounds.
• Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district wide travel.
• Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
