The Security Officer is responsible for protecting Medina Healthcare System (MHS) property, patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This role includes patrolling facilities, monitoring activity, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, and supporting crime prevention efforts. The Security Officer serves as a visible presence to deter unsafe or unlawful behavior while providing exceptional customer service and assistance.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Security & Patrol Operations
- Patrol and monitor hospital premises regularly to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Control access points and monitor the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols.
- Secure facilities by locking doors and identifying vulnerabilities.
- Safety & Incident Response
- Respond promptly to incidents, safety concerns, and security breaches.
- Assist with emergency evacuations and provide basic first aid as needed.
- Evict trespassers or violators in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines.
- Report traffic, safety, and security violations to appropriate authorities.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident, offense, and accident reports for internal use and potential legal documentation.
- Document and report facility issues (e.g., leaks, equipment malfunctions, lighting concerns) identified during patrols.
- Customer Service & Support
- Provide guidance, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assist individuals with vehicle issues such as lockouts or disabled vehicles.
- Provide escorts for employees, visitors, and special transports as needed.
- Collaboration & Compliance
- Enforce Medina Healthcare System policies and procedures.
- Assist and cooperate with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three to six months of related experience or training required; one (1) year of security experience preferred.
- Formal security training preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- Must obtain hospital-provided Level II Non-Commissioned Security Officer License upon hire.
- Basic knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and emergency response procedures preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations in a healthcare setting.
