Staff Accountant

Overview

Nakupuna Companies is looking for an entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing.

• Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutions
• Prepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for review
• Assists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including Accounts Payable voucher entry, employee expense reports, and billing
• Assists Senior Accountant in new employee set‑up and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etc.
• Recommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved procedures
• Creates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team members
• Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
• Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Completes ad hoc/other requests as necessary

Skills/

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online search engines required. Must be self‑motivated, efficient at multi‑tasking, and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Government Contracting & Deltek Costpoint is preferred.

Must be a U.S. Citizen, no clearance required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution
• 1–2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred
• Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable

The projected compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical hourly range for this position and is one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
