Compensation: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I).
Job Overview:
The Level V Auditor position supervises and participates in field audits of governmental books of accounts, business entities, regulated public utilities, and transportation companies. The auditor assumes complete charge of a team of auditors engaged in extensive or complicated audits, prepares financial exhibits and audit reports, and performs other duties as required.
- Supervise a team of auditors during field audits of governmental and corporate entities.
- Participate actively in field audits of governmental books of accounts, businesses, utilities and transportation companies.
- Prepare financial exhibits and audit reports.
- Perform additional duties as required by departmental leadership.
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or authorized under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Basic
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects. - Specialized
Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience applying generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, standards, theories, and practices. - Certification & Knowledge: In‑depth knowledge of State and Federal tax laws, including General Excise, Use, Net Income, Public Service, and other administrative tax laws; knowledge of Hawaii Revised Statutes governing tax law application; ability to analyze non‑resident tax situations and inter‑state or foreign commerce transactions.
- Ability: Plan, organize, guide, and oversee the work of others during field audits of large and complex domestic, mainland U.S., and foreign corporate organizations.
- Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated supervisory aptitude, either through direct supervisory experience or strong evidence of supervisory ability.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
