Position Summary

Hi Accounting is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its outsourced accounting division. The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the preparation of accounting work papers and reconciliations to support the issuance of financial statements and management reports. The successful candidate should be self-driven, passionate and client service focused.

Essential Functions Technical
  • Prepares and organizes work papers and reconciliations necessary to support the financial statements closing.
  • Reconciliations include bank reconciliations, accounts receivable aging, accounts payable aging, intercompany loans, debt, retained earnings/equity, and departmentalized revenue and expenses.
  • Prepares financial statements and management reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and variance analysis.
  • Prepares and files general excise tax returns and other reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Understands payroll and payroll taxes and assists with processing of payroll with APS technology partner.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work and frequently communicates status with senior/manager.
  • Understands general business including business law, formation and entity types.
  • Stays up-to-date regarding regulatory and industry changes to respond to client needs.
Client Service
  • Provides best-in-class customer service to clients and employees, emphasizing proactivity, responsiveness, professionalism, and accuracy.
  • Understands assigned client’s business and industry and works closely with management for full understanding of client service needs.
  • Serves as (or part of) the primary liaison with client personnel; ensures client deadlines are met and manages client expectations regarding deliverables, budgets, and timelines.
  • Develops relationships with clients and participates in client events.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with client employees and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
  • Embraces a team-based approach to client service.
  • Encourages collaboration, open communication, and problem solving.
  • Tracks and records time accurately, understands client engagement agreement, and identifies services outside scope.
Business Development
  • Identifies new opportunities for clients and promotes other company services that benefit their business.
Practice Management
  • Assists with new client implementation process including preparing a chart of accounts, financial reports, and month‑end close processes.
  • Participates in new client interviews.
  • Manages a large number of clients and projects.
  • Delivers client invoices timely and assists with collections as needed.
