Hawaii Behavioral Health is seeking a Part-Time Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team in Honolulu. Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant will support daily and monthly accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, payroll‑related accounting, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable, and comfortable working with Quick Books in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Complete monthly bank reconciliations in Quick Books to ensure accurate financial records
- Prepare and post month‑end journal entries, including accruals and closing entries
- Record payroll‑related transactions, including payroll accruals and expense postings
- Maintain accurate general ledger records using double‑entry accounting principles
- Reconcile accounts payable and ensure invoices are properly recorded and supported
- Process and assist with accounts payable payments and vendor communications
- Prepare monthly financial statements and support internal reporting needs
- Assist with audit preparation, including gathering schedules and supporting documentation
- Support external audits by providing reconciliation and responding to requests
- Participate in accounting projects, process improvements, and special assignments as needed
- Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related finance role preferred
- Familiarity with Quick Books or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (journal entries, reconciliations, etc.)
