POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client, a well-established hospitality and property management organization based in Honolulu, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and supervising the accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, supervisory experience, and a detail‑oriented approach to financial management.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in preparing annual financial and operational budgets; monitor departmental financial performance against budgeted goals.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related accounts; review entries to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Perform and/or supervise monthly and year‑end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to general ledger control accounts in accordance with departmental schedules.
  • Prepare interim, monthly, year‑end, and comparative financial statements and supporting schedules; analyze variances between actual results, prior periods, and budget.
  • Assist with preparation for annual audits and serve as liaison with external auditors by gathering documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Provide financial data and supporting documentation to the organization's CPA firm for preparation of annual tax returns and required filings.
  • Supervise accounts receivable activities, including billing, collections, account monitoring, and follow‑up on delinquent accounts; recommend escalation of accounts requiring legal or collection action.
  • Reconcile interfund receivables/payables, related‑party balances, and other balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Supervise accounts payable processing, deposits, cash receipts, and vendor payments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements; maintain accurate cash balance records and assist with cash flow monitoring and reporting.
  • Review payroll records and assist with payroll processing, tax filings, payroll reports, and year‑end reporting including W-2 preparation.
  • Maintain accountability for petty cash and change funds in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure timely preparation and payment of applicable taxes including TAT, GET, payroll taxes, and other required filings.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and support accounting department staff in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by senior leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience required, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience with MAS
    90 (Sage), depreciation software, and ADP preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and applicable financial regulations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems and financial reporting processes.
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and support accounting staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and alongside managerial staff.
  • Ability to prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and the Board of Directors as needed.
