Payroll Coordinator

We are looking for a Payroll Coordinator to provide hands-on payroll support for an organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. This long-term contract position is ideal for a payroll specialist who can quickly assess current payroll activity, investigate discrepancies, and deliver practical recommendations to strengthen accuracy and consistency. The role will focus on reviewing recent payroll cycles, evaluating how timekeeping data connects with People Soft, and clearly documenting findings for stakeholders.

Preference will be given to applicants currently residing in Hawaii due to the nature of the job requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Examine the two most recent bi-weekly payroll runs for a workforce of approximately 90 to 100 employees and verify overall accuracy.
• Investigate payroll variances and exceptions, determine underlying causes, and communicate findings in a clear and organized manner.
• Assess the flow of information between the timekeeping platform and People Soft to identify gaps, mismatches, or processing issues.
• Review spreadsheet and macro-related practices used in payroll preparation to uncover inconsistencies that may affect results.
• Prepare concise documentation summarizing audit observations, payroll issues, and recommended corrective actions.
• Suggest practical process enhancements that improve payroll reliability, efficiency, and internal controls.
• Provide on-site payroll expertise to support issue resolution and answer operational questions during the engagement.
