Location: Honolulu, HI |
Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (may work a few days weekly from a home based in Hawaii)
A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing team. The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all client tax returns and makes decisions on all but the most unusual tax matters.
Whatyou'll do
- Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate work to tax preparers as needed
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients
- Manage client service tasks and ensure assignments are completed within budgeted time
- Delegate and manage tax research projects to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before taxing authorities
- Maintain familiarity with the qualifications of tax staff and review staff assignments for appropriateness
- Supervise tax staff and provide on-the-job training
- Develop, coach, and train Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants
- Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department
- Five to seven years' experience in public accounting, with demonstrated progression in tax complexity, scope, and research
- Minimum one (1) year experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Current and valid certified public accountant's license required
- Experience with C + S corps, partnerships, and high net worth individual tax preferred
- Master's degree in taxation preferred
