Job SummaryThe Career Ambassador facilitates resume and cover letter reviews and assists students with Handshake and Linked In accounts under the supervision of a Career Center staff member. The role involves front‑desk duties, event support, employer and job approvals on Handshake, presentations, and general office tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct resume and cover letter reviews on an appointment or walk‑in basis after completing mandatory training.
- Track appointments and generate reports for Supervisors.
- Assist with event planning, organization, and facilitation for the Advising & Career Center.
- Approve new employers and job postings on Handshake following training.
- Serve as front‑desk staff: greet students, check them in for advising appointments, answer the phone, and maintain a professional environment.
- Deliver class presentations on career services using PowerPoint and engage in promotional presentations and tabling at career events.
- Participate in mandatory training workshops to enhance skill sets.
- Handle general office tasks: answer phone calls, create advising appointments, prepare office mailings, post flyers, pick up deliveries, and complete additional assigned duties.
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at the University of Wisconsin‑Parkside.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse staff and student population.
- Willingness to complete Safe Zone and FERPA training.
- Comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Good academic standing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service orientation and good judgement.
- Professional demeanor.
- Dependable and punctual.
Compensation: $12 per hour.
Employment requires a criminal background check and completion of sexual violence and harassment training as required by Wisconsin law.
