Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide administrative assistance to the Director of the Center for Indo-Pacific Affairs (CIPA).
2. Coordinate and implement online and in-person events in collaboration with the CIPA Director
3. Collect, organize, and report information
4. Maintain and update the CIPA website and social media
5. Produce and disseminate promotional materials
6. Monitor and respond to communications sent to CIPA via email and social media and maintain
contact databases
7. Track developments and write research memos related to security, politics, economics, and other
issues in the Indo-Pacific region
8. Assist the Director with meeting scheduling and provide other logistical support related to CIPA's
day-to-day activities
9. Other duties as related to the Center's projects
10. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with coursework
related to Japan
2. Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently
3. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and
procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations
4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and
external organizations, groups, team members and individuals
5. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software
6. Excellent communication skills in English (writing, reading, and verbal) at native or near-native
level
7. Experience coordinating outreach activities and promoting events via social media
8. Strong organization skills and attention to detail
9. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and Google suite
10. Skilled at using mailchimp, wordpress, Canva or other graphic design software

Desirable

Qualifications:

1. Experience and knowledge working in a higher education setting
2. Project management experience
3.

Experience with website design, graphic design, email marketing, or video editing tools
4. Experience running Zoom webinars and meetings for large groups
5. Experience or coursework related to international relations, political science, public policy, social
science, Asian studies, and/or related fields
6. Proficiency or familiarity with Japanese
