Job SummaryProvides various departments with administrative support including, but not limited to, coordinating and executing sponsored events and staff travel, preparing and distributing documents (correspondence, reports, newsletters, and other program material), maintaining files and databases, assisting with budget and purchasing activities, and serving as a primary contact for visitors.
Key ResponsibilitiesKamehameha Schools Kapālama campus is hiring an Elementary School Administrative Assistant to support its program. This in‑person position from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm will be responsible for managing the breakfast program and for providing a welcoming, organized, and responsive presence at the receptionist desk. The ideal candidate will thrive in a multi‑task school setting, handle shifting priorities, and interact frequently with students and staff.
EssentialResponsibilities Administration
- Provides general administrative support to different departments within the division/group.
- Receives and screens incoming messages and correspondence, provides information, responds to inquiries, and disseminates information internally.
- Handles documentation including typing of routine correspondence, transmitting, faxing, and copying as needed.
- Establishes and maintains files, many confidential in nature that may include personnel, payroll, student records, and general office files.
- Communicates and provides information for visitors and outside sources.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the department budget, including handling purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and reimbursement claims.
- Coordinates and arranges staff events.
- Assists in preparing reports needed by the department.
- Provides backup to other administrative staff and cross‑trains.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year administrative or directly related experience.
- Ability to work flexibly.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work with general office equipment.
- Good computer knowledge.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or skill in organizational competencies such as accountability, change effectiveness, collaboration and teamwork, communication, Hawaiian cultural commitment, and innovation.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
- Frequently sits, performs desk‑based computer tasks, grasps light or fine manipulation, talks or hears.
- Occasionally stands and/or walks, writes by hand, and lifts and/or carries, pushes and/or pulls objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twists, bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crawls, climbs, reaches, or works above shoulder, or grasps forcefully.
- Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non‑standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours.

Compensation and BenefitsPay Range: $20.73 – $27.48 per hour.
Work Year: 12 months.
Based on the compensation range provided below, salaries are commensurate with job‑related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of work year, and other organizational needs.
