High School Assistant
Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus is looking for a high school assistant to be the welcoming and reliable point of contact in the ʻAkahi Student Center, supporting daily office operations, and ensuring a smooth, student-centered experience for all who enter the space. This role provides direct assistance to haumāna by issuing student , coordinating parking permits, and offering responsive support to student needs throughout the day.
This position will also manage phone calls, respond to emails, review fundraising requests, and assist visitors with professionalism and aloha. They also maintain and update the high school Canvas pages, ensuring timely and accurate communication with students, staff, and families. With a focus on collaboration, organization, and service, this position contributes to a positive, efficient, and welcoming environment that supports the overall mission of the high school.
Job Summary
Provides general clerical assistance to the unit office and may have a large focus on tracking and following up on student attendance. Also, responsible for assisting with the office inventory, answering of phones/taking messages and responding to inquiries as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides general clerical assistance to the unit office (i.e. managing and following up with student attendance, providing assistance with detention, answering phone calls etc.).
- Assists callers and walk-in visitors (e.g. KS staff, parents, students, vendors). Answers/refers telephone calls to appropriate parties and takes messages.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
- Good working knowledge of personal computer and Microsoft Word and Excel software.
- Ability to type accurately.
- Good organizational skills to effectively and timely manage multiple assignments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping, filing systems and other office related skills.
- If assigned to support two different departments, must have ability to effectively time-manage and work efficiently; may require traveling to a second location daily.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Kamehameha Schools' policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
