OverviewBishop & Company is seeking a Medical Office Coordinator/Business Office Associate I to support a healthcare organization’s administrative and front office operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient interaction, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Assistant Administrator, the Business Office Associate I serves as the front desk point of contact for patients, managing check‑in and check‑out processes, answering phones, preparing charts, and supporting medical records and billing‑related administrative functions. This role requires strong customer service skills and attention to detail while handling sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities- Answer and screen incoming phone calls in a professional manner
- Greet, register, and check patients in and out daily
- Prepare patient charts and ensure all required documentation is complete
- Verify and collect patient identification and insurance information
- Communicate and reinforce financial policies to patients and collect payments
- Process requests for medical records in compliance with policies and regulations
- Prepare, copy, and organize medical records and reports for distribution
- Assist with subpoenas, court orders, and routine record requests
- Maintain accurate patient records, logs, and filing systems
- Support medical record audits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Assist with patient inquiries and provide excellent customer service at all times
- Support daily front office operations and administrative duties as assigned
- Promote a positive patient experience and collaborative team environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with office systems
- Experience with medical records preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting
- Experience with medical records and patient intake processes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast‑paced environment
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain organized records and filing systems
- Strong data entry and typing skills (35–45 WPM preferred)
- Professional medical office setting with frequent interruptions
- Regular interaction with patients, staff, and providers
- Occasional exposure to challenging patient situations
Pay: $20–$24/hr
Temp‑Hire Opportunity
Hours: 5:30 am–2 pm, occasionally 5–6 am depending on scheduling, if any Saturday scheduled‑comp day during week.
Parking: Available in building
LocationHonolulu, HI
