Administrative Specialist
The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Customer Services, is seeking a skilled and adaptable Administrative Specialist to support the Division of Motor Vehicles daily operations. This position serves as a key administrative resource for personnel administration, recruitment, budget and procurement activities, employee training, and operational reporting. You will work closely with the division's leadership to ensure critical administrative functions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with City policies and procedures.
What You'll Do
- Assist with developing the division's budget requests
- Review and process procurement documents, contracts, purchase orders, and related administrative transactions
- Track expenditures and help ensure that funds are used in accordance with operating budget policies and procedures
- Process paperwork and coordinate personnel and recruitment activities
- Advise on personnel procedures and assist with labor relations
- Coordinate employee training opportunities
This professional-level position supports personnel, budget, and administrative operations for the Division.
Salary for the position at the Department of Customer Services is the entry level: $5,527 per month. Salary for the position at the Department of Parks and Recreation is commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval: $5,527 to $6,468 per month.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a related field.
Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Three years of professional work experience in budget administration, personnel management (i.e., human resources), or management analysis.
APPLICABLE SKILLS NEEDED:
- Experience in public administration, including personnel management, budgeting, fiscal administration and organizational analysis.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate operations, budgets and administrative functions.
