The Honolulu Liquor Commission is HIRING!
We are seeking two (2) full time Office Assistants to provide exceptional customer service and clerical support for this City & County of Honolulu regulatory agency.
These are temporary positions that end 6/30/27, but are also renewable pending budget availability and agency need.
Competitive City pay and full fringe benefits are provided. Chosen candidates for these positions will be eligible to apply for permanent Office Assistant position(s) anticipated to be opened within the next several months.
These positions perform senior level clerical work involving a variety of highly complex clerical or routine administrative tasks in preparing, checking, reviewing, evaluating, and refining forms, records, and similar materials.
Prepares reports and maintains continuing records.
Performs registration services (ie. issues liquor cards) to the public as required by State Law and the Rules of the Liquor Commission; assists in the intake review of liquor license applications; and performs word processing and other clerical tasks as required.

Work Schedule:
- Salary paid:$3,471/month, with annual salary increases
- Pay periods:15 th and last day of the month
- Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays) - Includes 45 minutes of unpaid lunch break
- Minimum of one (1) ten-minute morning and one (1) ten-minute afternoon breaks, paid.
- Training and experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, and two years of clerical experience. - Knowledge of:office practices and procedures; filing methods and systems; correct English grammar, spelling and word usage; operation and maintenance of common office machines and equipment; principles and practices of supervision.
- Ability to:
Make arithmetic computations; compare words and numbers accurately; keep records, summarize and analyze materials and prepare reports; operate standard office machines and equipment; understand and interpret laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies pertinent to the department; give and follow oral and written instructions; deal with others in an effective and tactful manner; supervise, assign, review and evaluate the work of others.

Pursuant to Chapter 281 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Liquor Commission has the sole jurisdiction, power, authority and discretion to grant, refuse, suspend, and revoke any license for the manufacture, importation, or sale of liquor within the City and County of Honolulu.
The Commission also hears and adjudicates violations of Liquor Laws and Rules committed by liquor licensees and non-licensees.
