Technician I – Management Level Individual Contributor
Position OverviewThis is a part‑time vehicle operations Technician role located at a designated Cox Automotive location. The position requires on‑the‑job training and may transition to full‑time. Shift start times are 5:00AM or 6:00AM. No remote work is available.
CompensationHourly base pay: $21.00 per hour. The rate may vary within an anticipated range of $16.44–$24.62 based on location and experience. Additional compensation may include commission or incentive programs.
Job Responsibilities- Clean out and de‑trash vehicle interiors (ashtrays, consoles, dashboards, door panels, seats, trunk, and engine compartment).
- Remove license plates, stickers, and non‑auction markings from windows.
- Disassemble spare tires in the trunk.
- Wash vehicles with high‑pressure or automatic car wash equipment.
- Apply chemicals and power‑wash the engine compartment; clean battery terminals.
- Clean doorjambs, sills, interior panels, wheels, tires, hub caps/wheel covers, wheel wells, moldings, bumpers, headlights, taillights, exterior panels, trunks, hoods, and all windows.
- Detail vehicles by cleaning and dressing trim, molding, weather stripping, instrument panels, steering wheels, dash molding, and related trim with detail brushes.
- Buff and dress engines, wheels, wheel wells, tires, and vinyl tops; apply compounds, cleaners, or polish and buff with a rotary buffer or by hand.
- Wax and buff painted exterior surfaces using a hand‑type buffer.
- Vacuum interiors; scrub, shampoo, and spot‑clean carpets and upholstery.
- Straighten seatbelts and ensure glove boxes contain warranty booklets, owner’s manuals, and other manufacturer‑issued information.
- Follow all safety and health procedures; model safety excellence behaviors.
- Participate in all safety activities as directed.
- Perform duties assigned by a manager or supervisor, including driving vehicles to staging areas and occasional sale‑day driving.
- Engage actively in all staff activities.
- Less than 2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Vision abilities including close work, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application, and related repair procedures (preferred).
- Comfortable working in wet, humid, and outdoor environments with exposure to fumes, dust, and moderate noise.
