Position: Events Associate, Hawai'i
Location: East Honolulu

Overview

The Events Associate is responsible for managing and implementing a wide range of events, both in‑person and virtual, to support The Nature Conservancy’s mission in Hawaii. The role will be based in Hawaii, preferably on Oahu.

Essential Functions

The Events Associate will manage the project execution for 15‑18 events annually of varying scope and complexity, lead the development of Marketing’s annual field trip series, and coordinate closely with senior staff, field offices, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure high‑quality donor experiences. This position may also coordinate budgets and perform day‑to‑day scheduling of the event calendar.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and serve as team lead on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with participating staff, external vendors, and third parties.
  • Develop materials and track communications to ensure successful event completion.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for meeting project goals and objectives.
  • Resolve complex issues independently within the program area.
  • Act independently within program goals.
  • Travel up to 25% for business meetings and events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships in Hawai‘i.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Multi‑cultural or cross‑cultural experience, ideally familiarity with Hawai‘i.
  • Multi‑lingual skills appreciated.
  • Experience leading in a team‑based environment with internal and/or external partners.
  • Experience applying marketing principles to projects/programs.
  • Experience conceiving and writing creatively, tailoring technical or scientific information for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to articulate ideas compellingly.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guide work to meet quality and brand standards.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms, content management systems, email marketing tools, and analytics.
  • Experience planning and producing live and/or virtual events.
  • Understanding of current trends and best practices for live and/or virtual event production.
  • Passion for conservation (or strong interest).
Additional Requirements

The position requires a valid driver’s license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy‑owned or leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment is contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement and a review of the motor vehicle record.

Salary

Starting pay is $75,650 – $83,385, applicable only to candidates whose country of employment is the USA and state of employment is Hawaii. Pay will vary based on location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
