Position: Temporary full‑time Economic Development Specialist, Level IV.
Location: Downtown, Department of Agriculture & Biosecurity.
Salary: $5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR‑22, Step D to I).
Responsibilities- Participate in the development and promotion of programs that support Hawaii's products and attract business to the state.
- Conduct research and analysis on a wide variety of economic development topics, including market trends, business feasibility, and promotion strategies.
- Prepare reports of findings and recommendations for program planning and execution.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for new business or expansion of existing businesses in Hawaii.
- Support promotional programs for business expansion purposes on the mainland and in foreign countries.
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of economic development programs and activities.
- Legal Authorization to Work: U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or otherwise eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Basic
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with a major in marketing, business administration, business or commercial law, economics, finance, foreign trade, or a closely related field, including three semester credit hours in statistics. - Specialized
Experience:
2½ years of professional experience demonstrating application of marketing and business feasibility research and analysis, encompassing marketing phases such as product development, pricing, sales, advertising and promotion, distribution, and marketing controls; familiarity with wholesale, retail, manufacturer distribution, distribution costs, finance and tax structure, planning, and management; and knowledge of relevant governmental organizations and programs. - Driver's License: Valid driver’s license required at the time of appointment.
