Construction Claims Manager/Consultant

As a Construction Claims Manager/Consultant for HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will sit full‑time at our client’s office in Honolulu, HI, supporting local transit initiatives. You will manage the local rail program’s construction claims program under the supervision of the Director of Construction Claims, Utility and Third Party.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the local rail program’s construction claims program under the supervision of the Director of Construction Claims, Utility and Third Party.
  • Prevent and investigate potential claims, including intake, evaluation strategy, documentation monitoring, mitigations, resolution and litigation.
  • Advise client project management teams regarding claims prevention, defense and resolution.
  • Draft correspondence and other documents to support the client’s claims position for claims asserted by contractors or the client.
  • Manage construction‑management contracts used for escalated issues, including cost and schedule analysis, in‑depth review of cost items and preparation for mediation or court proceedings.
  • Interface with experts to assist with complex technical issues such as schedule program delays, economic damages and time impact.
  • Oversee and manage claims submitted to alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Assist the Contracting Officer with requests for a final written determination and other claims support.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Proficient use of the internet and other media for research.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Visio skills.
  • Expert Microsoft Access and Excel skills.

    Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary‑level information.
  • Ability to obtain, cleanse, merge and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow‑up skills.
  • Self‑starter with a proven track record of accomplishments.
  • Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
Benefits and Compensation

Location:

Honolulu, HI.

Schedule:

Full‑time, Regular employee status.

Compensation range (full‑time): $112,529 - $184,868 based on skills, experience, education and geographic location.
