Salary: $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR-19, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.
ResponsibilitiesThis position involves a full performance level of building construction inspection work with a broad range of inspection functions across various construction operations, materials, and methods. Responsibilities include inspecting and measuring construction materials, checking methods used, inspecting the erection of false work and concrete forms, accepting or rejecting concrete forms and materials based on specifications, keeping detailed records, preparing routine inspection reports, preparing monthly progress reports, and performing other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsLegal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
General
Experience:
Two (2) years of journey-level experience in building construction trades, demonstrating knowledge of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, and practices used in such trades, including building construction methods, materials, safety requirements, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Specialized
Experience:
- A. One (1) year of building construction inspection work experience.
- B. One (1) year of supervisory work experience over a skilled trades workforce in the building construction industry, involving interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship and material quality.
Basic Experience/
Education:
Work experience demonstrating the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, write simply, and perform arithmetic computations.
Driver’s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Lift and Carry: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
