DutiesSummary
Receive and coordinate requests for the repair and maintenance of schools and other public buildings; conduct informal bid purchasing for supplies, materials and services required in repairs and maintenance; maintain pertinent operating and fiscal data; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsLegal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education: Graduation from high school. Excess experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
General
Experience:
2 years of general work experience which required the keeping of written records. Such record keeping experience may have been acquired in the performance of duties in which record keeping comprised the major portion of the job responsibilities. The record keeping experience may also have been gained in trades, custodial, clerical or any other general field of employment in which the record keeping function may have constituted a small but vital portion of the responsibilities of the position.
Specialized
Experience:
3 years of progressively responsible work experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
- Scheduling building construction or maintenance work which included receiving requests, scheduling jobs, estimating time, manpower and materials, following up on job status, preparing status reports, and performing other related duties.
- Purchasing building construction or maintenance materials or services which involved studying market conditions, selecting supply sources, preparing purchase orders, bid proposals, contracts, analyzing cost proposals, and performing related purchasing duties.
- Selling building construction or maintenance materials or services which involved preparing bids, calling on customers, displaying merchandise, estimating prices, preparing sales contracts, reporting transactions, and performing related sales duties.
- Estimating labor and material costs of construction or maintenance which involved examining specifications, compiling itemized materials and price lists, computing cost estimates, and performing related estimating duties.
Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude, demonstrated through successful completion of regular assignments with supervisory responsibilities, documentation of supervisory positions, and favorable appraisals indicating supervisory potential.
Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
