Maintenance Projects Coordinator (Work Program Coordinator)

The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is hiring a Maintenance Projects Coordinator (Work Program Coordinator) in Kapolei. This position provides technical and administrative assistance in planning, developing and coordinating maintenance and repair services programs for City facilities, structures, grounds, and equipment.

What you will do:

  • Prepare Plans & Specifications – Develop work programs and construction project documents.
  • Conduct Field Inspections – Evaluate maintenance requests and estimate project costs.
  • Monitor Project Progress – Ensure timelines, budgets, and labor projections are met.

Special working conditions:

  • May be required to work on weekends, evening hours and holidays.
  • Serves as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

Minimum qualification requirements:

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. Education requirement:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in business administration, public administration, civil or structural engineering, or a related field.

Substitution:
Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

Experience requirement:
Three (3) years of professional financial or program analysis, estimating or purchasing experience, one of which shall have involved building construction and maintenance activities. Must be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and established work practices and processes used in building construction and maintenance operations.
  • Apply applicable laws, ordinances, policies, procedures, and regulations governing building construction and maintenance work.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance and construction tasks effectively.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate comprehensive maintenance and repair service programs.
  • Develop bid documents, specifications, and related procurement materials.
  • Prepare projections and detailed estimates of equipment, materials, and labor required for maintenance and repair work.
  • Interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations to maintenance and construction activities.

License requirement:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license (automobile/Type
3), prior to appointment.
