Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re seeking an experienced Traffic Anchor to keep listeners informed with timely, accurate traffic and weather updates across the local area. Because Honolulu has its own unique roadway culture and naming conventions, this Anchor must understand — or be able to quickly learn — the specific ways locals refer to highways, landmarks, and key routes.

What you’ll do
  • Provide timely, accurate, and useful information to help commuters plan their drives.
  • Deliver up‑to‑the‑minute reports on accidents, delays, and major traffic disruptions.
  • Read traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air.
  • Gather information from multiple intake sources and monitor local, state, and national traffic feeds to determine what’s most relevant.
  • Research, write, and produce traffic and weather copy for on‑air use; edit audio using digital editing software.
  • Manage incoming information, verify facts, and ensure all details are accurate and current; maintain updated content on station websites.
  • Create written, visual, audio, and video content for websites, blogs, and social media platforms.
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
What you’ll need
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit systems, and traffic patterns.
  • Clear, pleasant, and well‑controlled on‑air voice with excellent pronunciation.
  • Skilled at working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, newsroom‑style environment.
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities with strong command of grammar.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with consistent follow‑through until issues are resolved.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a high‑volume setting.
  • Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
  • Previous broadcast experience preferred.
What you’ll bring
  • Respect for others and a strong belief that others should do this in return
  • Full proficiency and understanding of job function
  • Open communication with colleagues and direct reports that encourages collaboration and team consensus
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Efficiency with independent work under minimal guidance
  • Commitment to process improvement for overall team effectiveness
  • Professional communication that stresses diplomacy, empathy and patience
