Content Writer / Copywriter, Technical Writer
We are a small but mighty learning and development team at Weyerhaeuser, focused on creating and delivering in‑person and online training experiences. The E‑Learning Writer will craft e‑learning content across enterprise and business topics, working closely with internal leaders, subject‑matter experts and multimedia teams.
This role reports to the Manager of E‑Learning and is a hybrid position based out of our Seattle HQ (onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).
Key Responsibilities- Write engaging, effective, and easy‑to‑digest training content, including video scripts, storyboards, learning activities, course content, knowledge checks and assessments, step‑by‑step guides, and other instructional content.
- Partner with internal business leaders to understand their training needs and develop training plans/outlines that meet expected goals and objectives.
- Work effectively with subject‑matter experts to interview them about their expertise, write and organize that content, incorporate feedback, and gain approvals for final products.
- Conduct your own supplemental research on training topics as needed.
- Use e‑learning authoring and multimedia tools to create the right training option for each business need.
- Lead projects from start to finish, including assessments, project timelines, content gathering, writing, design, development, implementation, and evaluation; communicate project status updates to stakeholders consistently and on time.
- Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete them on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with the broader learning and development team to ensure content alignment, and to leverage their facilitation and other skill sets as needed for blended curricula.
- Continuously improve the quality of our e‑learning materials and approach through research and innovation.
- Submission of a cover letter and 2–3 writing samples is required for consideration.
- At least 3 years of experience (with 5–7 years preferred) writing in a business environment.
- Exceptional writing, storytelling, content organization, design, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent project management skills with precise attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Tech savvy with the ability to learn new software and tools quickly.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Passionate and committed to learning new skills, software, and knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience writing learning content in a business environment.
- Experience writing content for complex technical topics.
- Experience writing a variety of instructor‑led and hybrid training solutions (e.g., facilitator guides, workshop materials, learner materials).
- Compensation:
Eligible for our annual merit‑increase program, with a salary range of $79,300 to $119,000 based on skills, qualifications and experience; also eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay (potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target). - Benefits:
