Position OverviewArchitects in the State government are primarily responsible for the planning and designing of new construction, and the alteration, rehabilitation or restoration of existing buildings and facilities such as public schools, health, social services and higher education facilities and general government buildings.
Responsibilities- Perform professional architectural work in the development of designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports for all types of public buildings and structures.
- May supervise the work of lower‑level architects and draftsmen on complex projects (Level IV).
- Prepare and/or supervise preparation of architectural designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports (Level V).
- Perform other duties as required.
- Legal Authorization to Work: must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

- Education:
A bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering from an accredited university. - Architectural
Experience:
Level IV (Three years) of experience performing journeyman‑level architect duties, including full range of professional architectural activity, leading major and complex projects, under supervision of higher‑level architect or engineer.
Level V (Four years) of professional work experience, performing difficult and responsible work, with at least one year comparable to Architect IV. - Supervisory Aptitude (Level V):
Demonstrated aptitude or potential for supervisory duties through regular or special assignments involving supervisory responsibilities, training, or favorable appraisals. - Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for some positions.
