The immediate vacancies are located in Ewa and Halawa to Kalihi with the Department of Transportation.
Salary Range- Drafting Technician III – $3,484 to $4,409 per month (SR-11, Step C to i)
- Drafting Technician IV – $3,768 to $4,766 per month (SR-13, Step C to i)
- Drafting Technician V – $4,078 to $5,157 per month (SR-15, Step C to i)
- Drafting Technician VI – $4,409 to $5,573 per month (SR-17, Step C to i)
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Duties per Level- Drafting Technician III – Performs work under general supervision as an advanced trainee, completing assignments of varying difficulty and complexity.
- Drafting Technician IV – Performs moderately difficult drafting work under general supervision and receives training in procedures, regulations, and special techniques.
- Drafting Technician V – Performs fairly complex drafting work under general supervision in an area of specialization and other related duties as assigned.
- Drafting Technician VI – Individually performs complex drafting work requiring a high level of skill; may serve as a team leader for lower‑level technicians; performs additional related duties.
- Drafting Technician (Engineering) – Creates profiles, cross‑sections, plans, details, and illustrative materials for airport, harbor, highway, water, sewage, flood control, irrigation, drainage, park, and other engineering projects.
- Drafting Technician (Architectural) – Drafts floor plans, elevations, perspective drawings, sections, and architectural details of buildings and related structures.
- Drafting Technician (Structural) – Drafts girders, beams, columns, riveted and welded joints, concrete reinforcing, and other structural elements for bridges, buildings, dams, wharves, piers, tunnels, retaining walls, tanks, towers, and pedestrian facilities.
- Drafting Technician (Cartographic) – Compiles, drafts, revises, and edits maps and charts, and processes source material for use in such maps.
- Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent, with courses in mathematics and mechanical drawing. - Drafting
Experience:
Required to prepare detailed architectural, engineering, and/or cartographic drawings; must include layout and drawings of finished plans and computation for scaled drawings. - Experience by Level:
- Level III – 1 year
- Level IV – 2 years
- Level V – 3 years
- Level VI – 5 years
- Substitution Allowed:
Completion of a course of study in Engineering Technology at an accredited community college can substitute for one year of required drafting experience. - License: A valid driver's license is required for some positions.
- Security:
Positions requiring unescorted access to secured airport areas will require a pre‑employment fingerprint‑based criminal history check; the applicant is responsible for any cost.
