• Position Summary

The Interior Design Student Worker will support faculty with a variety of activities related to the day-to-day operations, administration, and academic activities of the Interior Design program. The position provides opportunities to develop professional skills in communication, organization, collaboration, and design-related program support while contributing to the effective operation of the program.

• Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address design-related tasks, challenges, and student needs.
• Teamwork & Student Support: Demonstrate effective teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills while providing professional and supportive assistance to students, faculty, and design professionals.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Studio and Laboratory Support
  Assist faculty with maintaining and organizing interior design studios, material libraries, equipment, supplies, samples, and work areas.
• Design Project and Classroom Assistance
  Support faculty and students with model‑making, drafting, presentation preparation, material selection, printing, mounting, and other activities related to interior design coursework.
• Technology and Equipment Support
  Assist with the setup and basic operation of design-related equipment, software, printers, plotter, and other studio technologies, as appropriate.
• Administrative and Program Support
  Assist with department events, exhibitions, student showcases, outreach activities, inventory, documentation, and other tasks that support the operations and visibility of the Interior Design program.

• Education and Experience

Minimum

• Must be enrolled in the Interior Design program and have successfully completed at least the first semester of the first year of study (i.e., be enrolled in or beyond the second semester of the first year).
• Demonstrate a foundational understanding of interior design principles, studio practices, and professional expectations.
• Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to contribute positively to the Interior Design program and its learning environment.
• Current major in Interior Design with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Studio and Laboratory Support

• Assist with maintaining clean, organized, safe, and functional interior design studios, material libraries, equipment, supplies, samples, and shared work areas.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and follow established procedures for organizing, handling, storing, and maintaining studio materials, equipment, and resources.

Design Project and Classroom Assistance

• Assist faculty and students with model‑making, drafting, presentation preparation, material selection, printing, mounting, and other activities associated with interior design coursework.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of interior design processes, materials, terminology, and studio practices, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a design learning environment.

Technology and Equipment Support

• Assist with the setup and basic operation of interior design‑related technology, including design software, computers, printers, plotters, presentation equipment, and other studio technologies.
