Punahou School is actively recruiting a temporary, part-time Science Faculty member for the Fall 2026 semester. The faculty member will have the ability to teach biology and environmental science. Faculty are responsible for classroom instruction, laboratory design/setup, conferences with students and colleagues, and active participation in the work of the department on curricular development.

    Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
  • Faculty Salary Range*: $29,540 - $59,727 - Compensation commensurate with qualifications, Prorated based on FTE

Punauhou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay and benefits. The pay rate reflects the range of pay for faculty, which is dependent upon educational attainment and years of relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in sciences, education, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in teaching high-school aged students in particular subject area/s.
  • Ability to provide high-quality instruction in one or more core science disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.) based on candidate expertise and departmental needs.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and methods for high-quality high school science curriculum and curriculum design, teaching and instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to being a proactive, solution-oriented colleague who contributes to a positive and professional school culture.
  • Experience working with a variety of formative and summative student assessment tools.
  • Experience working with and supporting a wide range of student abilities and learning styles.
  • Proficiency with computers (Apple) and their use in science instruction to enhance student learning.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and presentation software, along with learning management systems such as Canvas.
