Hawai'i Preparatory Academy is seeking a dynamic and creative Second Grade Teacher to join our Village Campus faculty. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who fosters a joyful and nurturing classroom environment while delivering a robust curriculum that engages students in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

In addition to academic instruction, our teachers play a key role in instilling HPA’s mission by helping students develop into responsible, compassionate, globally minded, and respectful citizens. The ideal candidate is flexible, patient, and nurturing, with a strong ability to collaborate with colleagues, integrate technology into the classroom, and demonstrate a passion for learning and growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and implement engaging lessons across core subjects that support diverse learning styles.

Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and ensure academic growth.

Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and use data to guide instruction.

Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture with clear expectations and routines.

Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support students' academic and social-emotional growth.

Communicate regularly with parents through newsletters, conferences, and progress reports.

Participate in professional development and faculty meetings to stay current with best teaching practices.

  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and school events as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA or BS degree and an elementary teaching credential.

Three years of full-time elementary classroom teaching experience in an accredited school.

Excellent classroom management and communication skills to foster a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment.

Thorough understanding of elementary child development.

Experience planning curriculum and implementing differentiated instruction.

Knowledge of current instructional practices and a willingness to stay informed on research-supported teaching methods and technology.

Professional demeanor with a positive, outgoing disposition.

Ability to collaborate and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Commitment to continuous professional growth.

Uphold integrity, ethical conduct, and confidentiality.

Required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to support second-grade experiential learning opportunities.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM (Schedule may adjust based on school or program needs)

Faculty Salary Range: $52,500 - $98,454, prorated based on FTE.
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Hawai'i Preparatory Academy offers a comprehensive total compensation package, including competitive pay and benefits. The pay rate reflects the range of pay for faculty and is dependent upon educational attainment and years of relevant experience.
