Job SummaryThe Dean, Student Well-Being is a leader responsible for contributing to and communicating a vision and focused plan for improving all aspects of student well‑being including optimal instructional and behavioural supports to meet the needs of every student; creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. In addition, the Dean is charged with building strong partnerships with families and community, creating a safe, supportive school climate, and effectively managing operational, technical and staff issues to promote student engagement and learning progress.
EssentialResponsibilities Leadership
- Leads and coordinates school resources to design intervention and enrichment opportunities to meet the needs of all students and sub‑groups of students.
- Collaborate with the administrative leadership team, initiate a strong sense of team, lead and serve on committees, as appropriate.
- Support educator professional growth by modelling effective teaching methods through mentorship where appropriate.
- Develop and foster community connections that will enhance the educational experience of all students.
- Clearly communicate the school’s vision and mission to your school community and maintain a positive school climate while promoting system accountability as needed.
- Participate in professional development meetings as appropriate.
- Advocate for children and actively embrace community involvement.

- Understand and communicate Kamehameha’s E Ola! Learner Outcomes and support implementation of standards‑based curriculum.
- Plan and implement appropriate professional development as it relates to the school’s strategic plan.
- Support the principal in leading the implementation of the school’s strategic plan.
- Effectively balance flexibility and organization.
- Assist in developing programmes to promote positive student behaviour as well as intervention strategies.
- Implement and monitor Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support student success.
- Create and/or assist in developing effective systems and/or procedures to support positive student/teacher intervention processes and/or programmes.
- Under the direction of the principal, responsible for designing, overseeing and implementing the Multi‑Tier System of Support at the school level.
- In partnership with the principal and the school administration team, serve as the delegated school lead for Student Support Teams.
- Supervise student activities throughout the year, including, but not limited to athletics, dances, performances, etc.
- Analyse and understand student assessment data and effectively use it to inform actions within the school.
- Collaborate with partners to implement Multi‑Tier Student Support system (MTSS).
- Effectively manage conflict within the school as appropriate.
- Provide school‑wide support related to standardised testing and the administration of other assessments.
- Report issues to authorities as necessary, child abuse, suspicious activity etc.
- Counsel students and parents about school policies.
- Assist in monitoring and supervising school facilities.
- Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioural expectations by assigning appropriate consequences for behaviour including detention, administrative leave etc.
- Assist staff and parents in understanding student behavioural expectations. Participate at various parent, community, K‑12, student, faculty, counselling meetings and activities.
