Position Overview

ARU Student Coordinator is an experienced student leader that assists with day‑to‑day functions in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) and provides essential support to the Always Reaching Upward (ARU) Mentoring Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a resource and liaison for mentors, mentees, UWP students, and campus partners, connecting them to campus resources.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead monthly Community Connections events and other AMSA/ARU program activities.
  • Assist in communication: send program updates, coordinate with Student Development & Engagement Program Specialist, maintain event calendars, and collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Collaborate with OMSA staff and student staff to create, market, and execute programs; maintain office and community spaces.
  • Participate in leadership and professional development events (over 1 per semester) and advocate the student experience.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, web conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams), Qualtrics, and Canva for program management and promotion.
  • Attend weekly OMSA meetings, complete weekly summaries, and file timesheets.
  • Recruit, train, and support new student staff and program participants; mentor a minimum number of mentees during the academic year.
  • Support one‑on‑one coaching for Rising Rangers and other mentees, providing academic, personal, professional, and emotional guidance.
  • Engage in inclusive and equitable training and on‑boarding; maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding student information.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Junior or senior in good standing with the university.
  • At least 1 year of mentoring or related student leadership experience.
  • Full academic year commitment and flexible schedule.
  • Compensation of $13 per hour.
