Wilson Elementary: Grade 5 Teacher

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and student‑centered Grade 5 Teacher to join our team in the Hawaii Department of Education. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

• Plan and deliver standards‑based instruction in all core subject areas.
• Use data to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff.
• Foster positive relationships with students and create a nurturing classroom environment.
• Meet the diverse needs of learners in a multicultural community.

• Strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Grade 5 effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree (required for all teaching positions, except designated Career and Technology Education programs).
• Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire. If hired without a license, the candidate has a maximum of three years to obtain one and must enroll in a Teacher Education Program aligned with the teaching line.
• Must meet Hawaii licensing requirements as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
