  • Position Summary
  • The Director of Field Services provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all clinical and field-based experiences within the teacher preparation programs. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of field placement systems that support candidate success, program quality, and compliance with state, accreditation, and institutional requirements.

    The Director oversees the placement of students across teacher licensure programs and cultivates partnerships with school districts, private schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality clinical experiences. The Director leads the collection, analysis, and reporting of field experience data to inform program evaluation, strategic planning, accreditation, and continuous improvement efforts across the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences.

    Working collaboratively with academic program directors, faculty, and university leadership, the Director plays a key role in advancing educator preparation initiatives, supporting accreditation activities, developing policies and procedures related to clinical practice, and ensuring alignment with state licensure standards and national accreditation requirements. The Director serves as the primary institutional leader for field services and represents the School in external partnerships, professional organizations, and workforce development initiatives.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • A. Standard Report Functions and Decision Support (70%)
    • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical and field-based experiences within the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences' educator preparation programs, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, state licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and workforce needs.
    • Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with P-12 public, private, and charter schools, educational agencies, and community stakeholders across Hawai'i to secure high-quality field placements and expand clinical learning opportunities for teacher candidates.
    • Serve as the School's primary liaison with educational leaders, state agencies, school districts, and professional organizations regarding field experiences, clinical practice, educator preparation requirements, and licensure-related initiatives.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and operational systems governing field placements, clinical practice experiences, and candidate licensure processes.
    • Direct the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of field experience, candidate performance, and licensure data to support program evaluation, accreditation reporting, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Collaborate with Program Directors, faculty, and university leadership to utilize field experience data to inform programmatic decision-making, candidate support initiatives, and educator preparation outcomes.
    • Oversee compliance with accreditation standards, state regulations, and institutional requirements related to clinical practice, field experiences, and licensure recommendations.
