Position: Farrington High: Grade 9-12 CTE Culinary Teacher, 60357 (2026-01917)

Overview

A Culinary CTE Foundations Teacher at Farrington High School introduces entry-level students (typically freshmen and sophomores) to the vibrant world of the food, beverage, and hospitality industry. Operating within Farrington’s "school-within-a-school" Culinary Academy, this educator builds a base of essential skills, technical knowledge, and a professional work ethic to prepare students for advanced culinary courses, post-secondary education, and local industry careers.

Minimum Qualifications

The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree. If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have up to 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license.

You must enroll in a program to continue employment, and you must demonstrate active pursuit of Hawaii licensing requirements as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit. You may apply for your Hawaii teaching license on the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board website.
