Job DescriptionThe teacher collaborates in the effective operation of a Catholic education program by supporting the goals and spirit of Catholic education in general and the school programs in particular; ensuring an effective instructional program; continuing in professional growth; encouraging student educational growth.

- Knows and uses technology appropriately in and during instruction
- Works cooperatively with administration
- Works positively with colleagues, support staff, and parish staff

- Develop and deliver rich, student‑centered learning experiences around science, working from existing curricular frameworks, texts, and assessments
- Provide in‑school tutoring and on‑campus supervision duties during the school day
- Willingness to participate in some aspect of the school's extracurricular life, contributing to the school culture and community outside and beyond teaching
- Exhibit a love of science in all its forms and strongly believe that all students can, and should, enjoy a hands‑on college‑preparatory curriculum which includes project‑based instruction
- Thorough experience with the Next Generation Science Standards and knowledge of effective differentiation and customization practices to support teaching students from diverse backgrounds, including learning differences
- Show interest in continuing professional development in science education
- Enjoy working with students and colleagues in collaborative settings
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Ed or equivalent (four‑year degree). Minimum of 3‑5 years of teaching experience in grades 6‑8 in public, charter, parochial, or independent schools
The employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. The teacher must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods. May need to climb stairs and lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to respond effectively to, and lead the class in, emergency situations.
WorkingEnvironment
Work is usually performed in a classroom setting within the time frame established by the Middle Level Dean. Employee is occasionally required to attend evening meetings and may oversee field trips and other special events.
SupervisionExercises working supervision over students, educational assistants, and volunteers, as necessary.
Education4‑year degree.
