University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, Social Sciences Department is seeking applications for the Sustainable Science Management lecturer position. For placement into the lecturer pool beginning Fall 2026. Subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Teach Social Sciences courses in Sustainability;

* Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress;

* Assess student learning in terms of student and program learning outcomes;

* Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations;

* Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area;

* Maintain one office hour per week for each course taught;

* Classes may be offered online, daytime, evenings and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Sustainability Science Management or Sustainability Science OR

* Master's degree in a sustainability-related field
* AND two (2) years of teaching experience in sustainability at the post-secondary level OR

* Master's degree in a sustainability-related field*, and 18 graduate-level credits in Sustainability Science Management or Sustainability science or sustainability-focuses coursework

Related fields include:
Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Geography (with sustainability emphasis), Public Policy (with environmental/sustainability emphasis), or other interdisciplinary programs where sustainability-related subject matter was a primary focus of the program, as demonstrated by required coursework, program learning outcomes, or degree requirements.)

Desirable

Qualifications:

* Teaching experience at the community college level.

* Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.

* Work experience related to course to be taught.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.

* Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
