Other Conditions: Fall 2026, part‑time, lecturer candidate pool, non‑tenurial, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and actual staffing requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses in the discipline.
- Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
- Provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives, prepare course syllabi, and report on teaching and student progress.
- Work under the supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson to integrate teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- Complete student and peer evaluations and self‑assessment of teaching effectiveness as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to community college principles and philosophy.
- Be available for evening and weekend teaching assignments, teaching on campus, off‑campus at military bases, secondary education sites (high schools), and/or distance learning assignments for courses taught via the internet. This is not a remote position. For some teaching fields, openings may only be available for classes offered on military bases or taught via the internet. To teach on a military base, Department of Defense security clearance will be required.
To teach Early College courses for DOE schools, background checks will be required.
- Unless a related field is listed, the degree must be in the subject area. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or related Natural Sciences plus three (3) years related work experience in Fire Science/Fire and Environmental Emergency Response occupations.
- Associate degree in Fire Science or related Natural Sciences plus five (5) years related work experience in Fire Science/Fire and Environmental Emergency Response occupations.
- Fifteen college credits plus seven (7) years related work experience in Fire Science/Fire and Environmental Emergency Response occupations.
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
- Work experience related to the course to be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Familiarity with competency‑based instruction and behavioral objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Experience in the use of technology to support instruction and student success, including but not limited to LMS, CRM, Early Alert, and presentation software.
- A willingness to adapt to new technology platforms.
