JOB DESCRIPTION
Educational Specialist II position under the Athletics Admin Officer of the Extracurricular Section, Office of Curriculum & Instructional Design.
Responsibilities- Serve as department contact providing leadership and direction to state, complex area and school level personnel in identifying goals, objectives, and long‑range plans regarding middle school student leadership opportunities and programs.
- Collaborate with state and school level programs to plan, implement, and evaluate youth civic engagement and leadership opportunities that support successful middle‑to‑high‑school transitions and encourage continued trajectory toward college and career aspirations.
- Design and conduct teacher professional development opportunities aligned to national best practices to carry out present and emerging responsibilities.
- Lead efforts within and outside of the Department to establish and maintain partnerships that support the goals and objectives of the middle school student leadership activities program.
- Provide program and project management support that follows federal and state guidelines for expenditure of funds.
- Research and review current student activities procedures and policies to initiate needed updates and revisions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in education with specialization in a subject field appropriate to the area(s) of assignment.
- Education substitution:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or valid certificate/license in education plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience in a subject field appropriate to the area of assignment.
Six (6) years of responsible professional work experience in education of which four (4) years shall have been in teaching and two (2) years in curriculum or program planning, as appropriate.
KnowledgeFoundations of curriculum and instruction; instructional media and computers; foundations of American education; tests and measurements; principles of learning and individual differences; curriculum design and development; educational statistics; purposes, methods, subject matter and materials pertinent to the area(s) of assignment; research developments, trends, and current issues or problems pertinent to the area(s) of assignment; laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures pertinent to the area(s) of assignment.
AbilityProvide leadership, planning and coordination in the area(s) of assignment; develop, analyze and evaluate plans, programs and procedures; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate computer and other business machines; use tools, equipment, instruments or devices appropriate to the area(s) of assignment; maintain awareness of developments in curriculum or program areas.
Salary RangeEOSR-7, $113,660 to $160,893.
Work Year and BenefitsThis appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
Salary PlacementDepartment of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $113,660.
