Roles and Responsibility

Your primary responsibility is to provide religious education services to the chapel community. Your work under this contract includes, but is not limited to, the following:

These services have been performed by one contractor personnel at approximately 720hours per year (approx. 13-15hrs per week). Protestant RE services are required which includes weekly and monthly tasks.

  • You shall inspect chapel facilities and equipment used in the RE Program for functionality and cleanliness and report any issues to the TPOC. You shall conduct regular inventory of RE supplies; maintain existing supplies and order supplies and text books provided by the Government. Type and file correspondence and program records. Be present during all instructional periods. Build a team of teachers through the recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • You shall develop or select appropriate religious education (RE) curriculum for the Sunday Children’s Chapel program, and the Wednesday evening program. You shall recruit and train volunteers for the Children’s Sunday and Wednesday night RE programs for ages 6 weeks through 12 years old. On Sundays, you shall meet with the volunteers 10-15 minutes before arrival and check-in students for prayer, announcements and last-minute preparations.
  • You shall provide a Children’s Chapel and Nursery program (for children ages six weeks – 12 years old). The program shall be held during the full duration of the Protestant Sunday Worship service which lasts 60-75 minutes. You will prepare weekly lessons for the teachers for Sunday lessons and the Wednesday evening program, including preparing the supplies needed for every class.

    You shall conduct corporate worship as part of the Children’s Chapel program.
  • You shall maintain records of enrollment and attendance of participants and roster of volunteers. On Sundays, a report of attendance must be submitted promptly before counters finalize the report. You shall maintain weekly communication with the volunteers regarding their teaching rotation schedule and assignments.
  • You shall enforce health and safety checks in chapel classrooms and facilities to prevent accidents, injuries and other health related concerns among those participating and serving in RE programs.
  • You shall plan and conduct all aspects of the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. This is a combined Hickam and Pearl Harbor Protestant Chapel Programs collaborative summer annual event of five days at three to four hours per day.
  • You shall plan and conduct all aspects of the annual Harvest Festival.
  • In consultation with the Senior Protestant Chaplain, you shall plan and provide a special children’s or family program for the Advent, Easter, and quarterly family worship services when requested. Rehearsals for these programs are conducted either during the Wednesday evening program and/or during the Children’s Chapel program on Sunday morning. The presentation shall be approved in advance by the Senior Protestant Chaplain.

    You shall provide recommendations regarding maintenance or facility improvements to enhance the experience of those participating in any RE activities.
  • You shall maintain the chapel lanai bulletin board, the chapel foyer bulletin board and the Protestant Chapel Facebook page in order to promote and inform participants regarding available RE programs, services, activities, and events.
  • You shall provide RE program updates to families regarding the content of the current curriculum and lessons as requested.
  • You shall adhere to all Chapel Tithes and Offerings (CTOF) guidelines and rules via training from the CTOF Accounting Technician regarding CTOF purchase requests, disbursing and expense reports.
  • You shall attend the Protestant Council meeting once a quarter to provide RE program updates.
  • You shall recommend an annual schedule of RE programs for the next FY (by June 1st) to the coordinating Chaplain with appropriate fund proposal.
  • You shall consult once per week with the coordinating Chaplain either in person, via email or phone.
