Job Summary :
The Assessment Specialist and Learning Support role helps guide student learning and social and emotional health by completing psycho educational evaluations. Evaluations are individualized to meet the referral concern, and written to better understand the student and advocate for their needs. Evaluations include cognitive and achievement measures, as well as behavior rating and emotional functioning scales. This role works within the Academic Resource Center to implement effective instructional practices and monitor student support and progress in instruction and assessment.
Student Assessment
:
Complete at least 30 student evaluations per school year in a professional and timely manner.
Reports must meet College Board requirements for requesting accommodations, if applicable.
Reports describe individual test results and also integrate various sources of data, which may include interviews, records review, and standardized test results.
Reports identify specific recommendations based on the evaluation data.
Monitor student progress and reassess needs as appropriate to inform ongoing support and intervention planning.
Support and guide individual students on an ongoing basis to identify areas of academic growth.
Learning Support
:
Work with students in grades 6-12 to develop effective learning strategies, study skills, organization, and self-advocacy skills.
Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to identify individual student learning needs and implement effective instructional and intervention strategies.
Partner with administrators, faculty, and staff to foster a supportive environment that promotes student learning and well‑being.
Participate in student support meetings as appropriate.
Communicate with parents regarding student progress, goals, and support strategies.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and professional standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited school.
Licensed psychologist in the State of Hawaiʻi.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience administering and interpreting cognitive, achievement, behavior rating and personality tests with students grades K-12.
Demonstrated ability to write clear, descriptive, integrated assessment reports.
Clear understanding of DSM-5 diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
Familiarity with the College Board and ACT accommodations process.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in an independent school setting.
- Experience with neuropsychological assessment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to see and hear within normal parameters with or without correction.
- Full range of head, neck, and back movement; unrestricted ability to bend knees, raise arms above the head, and to move hands, fingers, and wrists.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds without difficulty.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for sustained periods of time.
- Must successfully pass fingerprint background check and provide TB clearance due to working in proximity to children.
