Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as Faculty Co‑Director for the Genomics and Bioinformatics Shared Resources, supporting collaborative cancer research across disciplines at the UH Cancer Center.
- Lead an independent, extramurally‑funded research program to advance scientific discoveries in cancer risk reduction, alone or in collaboration with faculty at the UH Cancer Center, John
A. Burns School of Medicine, the University of Hawai‘i, and external partners. - Publish research in peer‑reviewed scientific journals.
- Stay abreast of and develop innovative genomics studies to support etiology and intervention research in community, clinical, or other settings.
- Supervise postgraduate students (PhD or MS) and participate in graduate‑level teaching.
- Perform scholarly activities assigned.
- PhD in Natural or Biomedical Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with molecular genomics methodologies (emphasis on NGS techniques) and demonstrated ability to implement genomics platforms for collaborative research.
- Ability to generate research reports, publications, and grant proposals.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated initiative, interest in innovation, and adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with peers from diverse scientific backgrounds.
- Experience in single‑cell NGS and spatial transcriptomics methodologies.
- Experience working in a Core Facility environment and managerial skills.
