** Job Summary
** The Coordinator, Student Support Services provides support and leadership to interdisciplinary teams focused on developing and implementing a K-12 approach to support student success in school by addressing their academic, social, and emotional learning. Serves as a lead in providing educational services to students with learning needs through observation, screening, identification, and/or monitoring of students with a variety of learning challenges.
Ensures proper documentation in KS' system of record and performs regular audits of data in the system. Promotes a professional learning environment for staff and faculty that assures continual improvements in student learning; positively supports and effects change, assuring results are achieved as the campus moves forward with MTSS; and integrates innovative educational research and pedagogy into the campus’s educational program;
is a role model of Hawaiian values and a champion of Hawaiian culture and language. This position requires strong interpersonal skills in order to relate effectively with students, parents, teachers, staff, campus leadership, and Malama Ola.
** Essential Functions
**** Leadership
* ** Helps support and lead the centralized efforts of an interdisciplinary team created to support student success in school
* Monitors operations of this team including coordination, implementation, and supervision of student services to insure a nurturing and productive school environment
* Coaches, nurtures, and assesses work performance of, and provides constructive feedback, recognition and development opportunities to team members
* In collaboration with other administrators, helps to address and resolve problems and/or issues involving students, teachers, parents, and staff
* Develops a sense of inclusion and common purpose among counseling staff, and fosters their mutual support
* Ensures the provision of a safe environment for staff and students in line with KS policies and procedures.
* Assists the KS vision of facilitating a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment and a challenging school program. Develops a sense of `ohana among students and staff, marked by mutual care and respect, friendliness, happiness, and belonging
* Takes active involvement in the general life of the campus, and supports it formally and informally within and beyond the school program.
* Attends and participates in K-12, team, department, and general staff meetings
** Program Development and Administration
*** Observes, screens, identifies, and monitors students with a variety of learning/academic challenges
* Administers screening instruments that assess students who may have learning disabilities
* Assists behavioral health specialists and school counselors with coordinating off-campus referrals for students needing educational assessments/evaluations
* Advises, consults, and collaborates with administrators, counselors, and teachers regarding students’ intervention plans and appropriate actions needed to address students’ special needs
* Assists teachers toward implementing instructional strategies in the classroom. Provides instructional intervention and learning strategies
* Develops meaningful goals for student attainment and monitoring of progress toward these goals
* Prescribes strategies based upon screening results or educational assessment and evaluation reports that help students’ academic success
