Nimitz Elementary School is seeking a passionate and dedicated K-2 Special Education teacher to join our dynamic team. Our school is committed to providing a positive learning environment where students are active participants in learning that is relevant to present and future needs. At Nimitz, we embrace a culture of collaboration, emphasized by our will to maintain our ‘ohana. We are looking for a teacher who shares our value of building relationships with students and challenging students to attain the highest levels of achievement and excellence.
While we primarily serve the military community, our campus is not on a military base.
Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
Desired ExperienceSpecial education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
Desired Knowledge- Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings;
- Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions;
- Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively;
- Work effectively with others.
The Hawaii State Department of Education requires a Bachelor's Degree for all classroom positions. If hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, you have up to 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a program to continue employment.
