Position Overview
James Campbell High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to teach a full course load of 9th Grade Physical Science within our Freshman Success Academy. You will guide students through hands‑on laboratory experiments and inquiry‑based lessons that emphasize real‑world applications and critical thinking, using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Responsibilities- Teach the full 9th‑grade Physical Science course and deliver NGSS‑aligned instruction.
- Design and conduct laboratory activities and inquiry‑based lessons.
- Create a culturally responsive, highly structured classroom environment that fosters academic resilience and social‑emotional growth.
- Collaborate with fellow ninth‑grade teachers to support holistic student development during the high‑school transition.
- Participate in cross‑curricular initiatives and use data‑driven interventions to ensure every freshman builds confidence and a solid academic foundation.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree. Applicants must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit; if hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, the teacher has up to three years to obtain a valid license and must pursue the program each year. Candidates must enroll in a program that aligns with the teaching line they are hired in.
